Ways to Promote Your YouTube Channel

Ways to Promote Your YouTube Channel

Every YouTuber and vlogger desires to get more views and subscribers! Promotion is one of the most important factors for if your YouTube channel and videos will get one view or one million views. It doesn’t matter if you upload tons of videos, if no one actually sees them. Don’t think that just because you make a good video it will immediately go viral.

It is very easy for your channel to get lost in the sea of YouTube content that’s out there. There are over one billion users on YouTube, according to their statistics page. You could have the best channel in the world, but if no one knows about it, it won’t get very far. So, with everyone out there trying to become the next big thing, here are some guaranteed ways to get people watching and sharing your YouTube videos and increasing traffic to your channel.

  1. Social media and other online platforms.

Do you have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other type of social media? Using these platforms to your advantage is a great way to get people viewing your YouTube channel. If you have a following on any social media platform it can be assumed that these people would also like to follow you on YouTube. Post links to YouTube from other online platforms and you are sure to get more people checking to see what your channel is all about.

  1. Call-to-Action (CTA)

A call-to-action is a suggestion, almost a demand that uses words to urge the viewer to take an immediate action, such as to “like”, “comment” or “share” a video. You can combine small call-to-actions throughout your video and/or put one big call to action at the end instructing the viewer to do something like follow your channel. Think of all the videos you’ve watched where the guy at the end told the viewers to share the video and check out their channel. You can even include a button the viewer can press that takes them straight to your channel!

  1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Use keywords relevant to your channel or video to help maximize traffic. Make long detailed descriptions for your videos and titles that explain or give a hint into what the video is all about. When someone searches for a video on YouTube, it is much more likely that they will find yours using these easy steps. (for more information you can check out our blog post on SEO) LINK

  1. Audience Interaction

Never underestimate interacting with your audience. Viewer’s love when their comments receive a reply and are more likely to invest their time to someone they’ve established a connection with. Think of how excited you would get if a celebrity replied to a tweet you sent them. You can also reply to your viewers on other social media platforms, while including a link or call-to-action.

  1. Make your videos Entertaining!

This might sound like a given, but the more entertaining your videos are the more people will want to support and follow you. With so much content out there, viewers will waste no time switching your “how-to garden in 500 easy steps” to a cat video. The last thing you want is to bore your viewer to death.

  1. YouTube Fan Finder Program

YouTube suggests that this is a great way to, "Grow your fan base.” They state, “Strong channels are built on passionate fan bases. We want to help you find your fans. So we built Fan Finder, which finds and connects your channel to new fans, at no cost to you. Just create a channel ad, and we do the rest.” This is an easy tool that will help you increase maximum traffic to your channel.

With the number of channels currently on YouTube, getting people to find and invest their time in yours won’t be a piece of cake. You can’t just assume that if you upload a video it’ll get seen. Remember, promotion is key. There are many other ways out there to promote your channel, but we hope these six strategies will give you the boost you need.
