A call-to-action is a suggestion, almost a demand that uses words to urge the viewer to take an immediate action, such as to “like”, “comment” or “share” a video. You can combine small call-to-actions throughout your video and/or put one big call to action at the end instructing the viewer to do something like follow your channel. Think of all the videos you’ve watched where the guy at the end told the viewers to share the video and check out their channel. You can even include a button the viewer can press that takes them straight to your channel!
Use keywords relevant to your channel or video to help maximize traffic. Make long detailed descriptions for your videos and titles that explain or give a hint into what the video is all about. Never underestimate interacting with your audience. Viewer’s love when their comments receive a reply and are more likely to invest their time to someone they’ve established a connection with. Think of how excited you would get if a celebrity replied to a tweet you sent them. You can also reply to your viewers on other social media platforms, while including a link or call-to-action.
This might sound like a given, but the more entertaining your videos are the more people will want to support and follow you. With so much content out there, viewers will waste no time switching your “how-to garden in 500 easy steps” to a cat video. The last thing you want is to bore your viewer to death.

With the number of channels currently on YouTube, getting people to find and invest their time in yours won’t be a piece of cake. You can’t just assume that if you upload a video it’ll get seen.
