Andrew Johnson introduction

Andrew Johnson is the founder of Adjacent Communications, a creative and communications consultancy based in Auckland, New Zealand. He comes from a background of nearly 30 years in professional communications, including time at his family’s privately owned media company, which produced New Zealand’s leading renovation magazine and expanded across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North America.

Today, Andrew runs several companies under the ADJ Network, including Adjacent Communications and ADJ Systems, which builds AI agents and automation tools for businesses. One of his flagship projects is a large property communication and education website in New Zealand, partnered with realestate.co.nz.

He is the primary Renderforest user across his businesses and uses it for:

  • Logo animations and branded intros and outros for client projects
  • Award ceremony videos celebrating client and community stories
  • Event presentations and board-level visual materials
  • Social media and website video content for clients
  • Quick visual concepts and creative options during the briefing stage
  • Branded content across property education, podcast, and communications platforms

The challenge

Andrew works across a wide range of clients and project types, from small branding jobs to large retainer accounts spanning strategy, content, events, and digital platforms. With an agile contractor-based team rather than a fixed in-house studio, he needed a way to produce polished visual content quickly and without pulling in a full production team for every asset.

The tools in the Adobe Suite gave him quality but not speed. Getting a logo animation or a branded video intro ready could mean significant designer time for what was often a single component of a larger deliverable. He needed something that could bridge the gap between a rough creative idea and a finished, client-ready asset.

The solution

Andrew has been using Renderforest since 2023 after finding it through a social media reference or recommendation. What kept him on the platform was the reliability of the output and how well it fit the pace of his work.

What renderforest can do

Rather than starting from scratch in a design tool, Andrew uses Renderforest to quickly produce multiple visual directions for a client, testing a bold approach against something more elegant or understated. This lets him move through the concept stage faster and arrive at client presentations with something polished already in hand.

The features Andrew relies on most:

  • Logo animation templates for producing polished intros and outros
  • Gold Awards and event templates for ceremony and celebration videos
  • Presentation-ready visuals to replace standard slide decks for board-level work
  • Flexible template styles for quickly showing clients multiple creative directions
  • Sequenced video templates for storytelling across longer-form content

The results

Faster creative delivery across a varied client base

Andrew works with anywhere from one client intensively to ten or fifteen clients in a given month. Renderforest lets him produce high-quality branded video assets without involving a design team for every project, keeping his contractor model lean and his turnaround times fast.

Stronger client presentations

Rather than walking into a board meeting with a standard PowerPoint, Andrew uses Renderforest to make presentations feel more considered and dynamic. For clients who cannot easily visualize a creative direction from a brief, having a polished animated example changes the conversation.

Emotional impact at live events

One of Andrew’s most memorable uses of Renderforest was for an awards ceremony celebrating eight New Zealanders over the age of 80. He used a Gold Awards template to create two-minute life-story videos for each recipient, presented live at the event. The emotional response from the audience and recipients was something he described as invaluable, the kind of result that a static slideshow could not have delivered.

What comes next

Andrew has largely worked within Renderforest’s template environment and has not yet explored the platform’s AI tools in depth. After the conversation with the Renderforest team, he is planning to experiment more with the AI video generator and AI image generator, and is interested in bringing prompts from his existing AI agent workflows directly into Renderforest’s creation process.

He also flagged two product areas he hopes to see improve: optional template fields that resize cleanly when left blank, and a broader color customization palette so that more templates are usable for clients with specific brand colors.

Where storytelling and efficiency meet

Andrew Johnson has spent nearly three decades finding ways to make communication more compelling. Renderforest fits that mission by giving him a fast, reliable route from creative concept to finished visual, without the overhead of a full production workflow.
