But AI does not remove budgeting. It moves the budget into generations, retries, editing, consistency, and the time you spend deciding what is actually good enough to keep.

The smartest approach is to generate less, direct more, and budget for footage that survives the edit.

Quick answer: what can you make on a small AI music video budget?

You do not need a unique AI clip for every few seconds of a song. A 3- or 4-minute music video can feel varied with a relatively small library of strong source scenes if you plan repetition, crops, cutaways, performance footage, typography, and visual motifs before you start generating.

Repetition becomes cheap when it looks intentional.

Randomness becomes expensive because every new idea needs to be generated, judged, fixed, and somehow made to belong beside everything else.

You do not need a complicated production pipeline. You need to delay expensive decisions until they are worth making.

1. Lock the track

2. Mark five or six musical moments that deserve anchors

Listen once without thinking about visuals. Mark the opening, first major lift, chorus, drop, bridge, final chorus, and ending as relevant to the track.

3. Write a visual rulebook, not fifty prompts

Keep it to one page: palette, environment, lighting, wardrobe, recurring object, camera energy, realism level, and what absolutely must remain consistent.

7. Spend the rescue budget after watching the whole video

Watch the rough cut on a phone, not only in the editor. Then watch it once with the sound low.
